Located in the heart of Philadelphia, this project aims to repurpose an old building and transform it into a self-sufficient system that integrates vertical farming with urban housing. The ground floor will feature a community center and a market where residents can purchase fresh, locally grown produce. The upper levels will be dedicated to housing units, with each unit having its own private balcony to grow herbs, vegetables, and other plants. The vertical farming system will be powered by a combination of natural light and energy-efficient artificial lighting. Rainwater will be collected and used to irrigate the plants, reducing the building’s dependence on the city’s water supply. This project will not only provide affordable

housing for the local community, but it will also help to revitalize the area by creating green space and promoting sustainable living. By integrating vertical farming into the building’s design, residents will have access to fresh, healthy produce and can reduce their carbon footprint by reducing the need for transportation and preserving resources.

Overall, this project is a visionary proposal that will help to create a more sustainable and self-sufficient future for the city of Philadelphia.
